A one year part-time foundation year in anthroposophy with an emphasis on the arts. The course consists of 24 mentored hours, four 3-day weekends of art courses, some independent study and a final project. The 24 mentored hours can be one-on-one in person or with an online mentor. Group study sessions online or in person are also an option. The 4 weekends will take place on or close to the four cornerstones of the year and are called Festival Gatherings: The Spring and Fall equinox and the Summer and Winter solstice. The final project can be a talk, and artistic project or a short written paper.
Who is it for? Anyone who would like to deepen their relationship to anthroposophy and to the arts arising out of anthroposophy. It is also intended as a foundation year for those wishing to go on to the part-time Auriel eurythmy training. What arts? The four Festival gatherings will centre around Steiner’s indications on the arts for each festival celebration. The Fall course will focus on painting and drawing, the Winter course on sculpture, the Spring course will have an emphasis on drama and mask making, and the Summer course will be on music and singing. All courses will also offer eurythmy and biography work, as well as Goethean observation and conversation. There will be exploration of customs around the four cardinal festival points of the year, ancient and modern. Can I just participate in the Festival Gatherings without doing the whole Auriel Foundation Year? Anyone can join the Festival Gatherings 1, 2, 3 or 4 times a year without participating in the rest of the program. Please follow this link for more information on the Festival Gatherings as individual workshops.
